As proud owners of the Creel Tackle House and Café, we’ve loved becoming part of its long-standing history and welcoming both regulars and new faces through the doors. It's been several years since we took over, and in that time, we've worked hard to carry on the legacy of quality, service, and charm that The Creel is known for.

Jason has deep roots in the Taupō District, having lived here on and off for over 30 years. With a background in farming, fishing, and hunting—and childhood holidays spent at Lake Rotoaira—it’s safe to say this region feels like home. He previously owned and operated the Troutbeck Fishing Lodge for eight years and has been guiding in the Central North Island for more than a decade, exploring the region’s beautiful rivers and lakes by helicopter, raft, quad bike, boat, and on foot with clients from near and far.

A heartfelt thank you to Deb and Grant for the amazing work they did in shaping The Creel into the iconic destination it is today, and we’re proud to have continued offering the high standards and friendly service people came to expect.
